TO PONDER. TO QUESTION. TO THINK. TO RE-THINK. TO BREAK. TO BUILD NEW. TO BREAK AGAIN = A COMPLETELY FUTILE TASK. [IMAGINE SISYPHUS HAPPY?]

Music in Focus

À Rebours
À Rebours (pronounced: AH reu-BOOR). From the French meaning: “against the grain,” or “against nature.”

À Rebours: deliciously melancholy rock. Diverse, emotional and trans-genre. Decidedly alternative, artsy-fartsy, pretentious, dark...and sometimes even fun.

À Rebours is a musical conspiracy conceived and executed by Ian Stone. The project is intended for full band performances and the sound is a combination of several different genres colliding under a dark, overcast sky. The band and sound began in 1998 with the moniker “Maxwell's Demon” but, many frustrations and flaky band mates later, a name change and a fresh slate all around revitalized the music and sent it in the current, and correct, direction. Ian currently plays all the instruments and writes all the music.

mah dad!

My dad. he could discuss on anything with you for hours. he has a hunger for all kind of knowledge. Be it a kitty party or a business forum - he is at ease every where! If he had been born in our generation, he would have been the perfect party animal. Nevertheless, he is what a woman wants (honesty) and what a man wants to rub his shoulder with (power).

but when it comes to shopping for him, you will be at your wit's end. it is best to say you have to inform him well before the scheduled time… Continue

Ramzaan

September, 2008.
Once upon a Monsoon, when we were getting used to attending classes after a long long time, a classmate and I were sent by a certain member of the staff to beg Penguin Publishers to supply us with books at discounted rates.
So I met Sir Cadogan (the classmate) and he said:
“Hey, do you want to go to this place, after we’re done with this work, that is…if you don’t have a problem, and if you’re not too busy, that is…it’s ok if you don’t want to, it’s not like we hav… Continue

Crossroads and the curious case of Mahesh Bhatt

Crossroads !! A word most of us use as often as cursing Rakhi Sawant (Hey, btw, she is herself at Crossroads of her delicate life.U see, she has to choose a pyara dulha)
Anyway, I will not allow myself to be diverted from this serious topic (*assumes a Harbhajan Singh-thinking-of-Symonds-like grave pose*)
I had never thought that this word which i had used so many times while observing the patterns on my toenails would really force me to look at its definition in a balefully existentialist sort… Continue

The Red rebels and the trend followers: JNU fashion

We all know that story. God told Mr. Adam not to eat the forbidden fruit. Nevertheless, he eventually did. Well, this Mr. Adam was the first student of Jawaharlal Nehru University (technical not but ideologically yes). Nested in a thousand-acre campus, JNU forms a world of its own. The walls of the administrative block, the schools and the hostels are covered with graffiti and political posters. People sit for hours at different dhabas and debate. Questioning is the favourite pastime of JNUites.… Continue
